About PawBudget
PawBudget is an independent guide to pet food, supplies, subscriptions, and services. Casey Odom is a former shelter vet tech and reviews products the way someone who has actually cleaned the cages would — whether a thing fits real daily pet care and keeps a pet safe, not how cute the box is.
Why cost-per-day beats sticker price
A fresh-food subscription looks reasonable per bag and quietly becomes the biggest line in the budget. Autoship refills renew whether you need them or not. We break picks down to cost per day and flag the subscriptions worth pausing.
How we research
We start with ingredient panels, brand and retailer disclosures, recall history, sizing and compatibility, and current pricing. Reviews focus on real routines, safety, allergy angles, required refills, and the limitations hidden behind friendly marketing.
How comparisons are built
Individual product reviews come before ranked comparisons. Each comparison states its criteria and only includes options with enough current evidence to assess. A company cannot pay for a better rating or position.
How this site makes money
Some links are affiliate links. If you buy or subscribe through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate availability does not decide whether a product is included, praised, or criticized.
Not veterinary advice
Information here is general and not a substitute for your veterinarian. For health, diet, or medical decisions about your specific animal, talk to your vet. Prices and ingredients change — verify before buying.
